Project highlights

Technical
As the Dead Bullock Soak (DBS) haul road was to remain operational throughout construction , CDE Capital’s greatest challenge was to coordinate work in such a manner that allowed uninterrupted use by all ore haulage road trains and light vehicles.

The short construction deadline of this project dictated an innovative approach to its completion. A traffic management plan structured around the day shift only operation was put in place. This allowed single lane access for the road trains during the daylight hours and full two way road traffic during darkness. Daily communication meetings with the client and it's ore haulage contractor ensured safety of all and uninterrupted delivery of ore to the mill.

Employment
The project employed 20 people on site, 15 of which were Aboriginal and of that, 4 were sourced from the local Yuendumu community and trained in the operations of various plant and equipment. This training and skill accumulation has enabled these people to go on to various positions with Newmont and contractors to them, while others returned to the Yuendumu Community.
